Saturday 5/31 — Maintenance Required: Basic Auto Care Workshop with Sarah Lyon
Description
Saturday, May 31, 10AM–1PM
FCCW: 3053 Rosslyn St., LA CA 90065
Max participants: 12 each session
Free
In this 3-hour workshop you will learn techniques on how to change a tire, the basics of the combustion engine, and how the systems of a car work together. We'll go under the hood and talk about checking fluids, important maintenance procedures, and what to keep in a basic tool kit. Projected images, diagrams, and actual parts and tools will be shared for reference, with opportunities for questions and participant dialogue throughout.
For the hands-on part of the workshop, participants will practice changing a tire using the jack and spare provided with their own car — though you are not required to have or bring a car to participate. If you have one bring your car manual and come prepared to get a little dirty! This workshop is for anyone interested in personal empowerment through understanding more about cars.
You can purchase Sarah Lyon’s book, Maintenance Required, which is a companion to the program and pick-up it up at the event.
